I am the State of Oregon volunteer representative for ADAO, (Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization), and a realtor in Oregon. My father died of mesothelioma 30 years ago, and asbestos is still not banned in the United States, even though 55 other countries have had the wisdom and sense of humanity to ban it. As many of you know asbestos is in many areas of homes, and safe removal can be done by those that have been trained to do that work. Because mesothelioma is a "latent disease" (mesothelioma can take 20 to 50 years to get to a point where the exposed person becomes sick), people tend to not take seriously the consequences of removing it themselves inapprorpiately.
